The Facility
Iroquois Springs, located near the town of Rock Hill, in the Catskill Mountains, is an immaculately maintained, spacious site with a pleasant, open country atmosphere. It is 90 miles NW of New York City and 80 miles NE of Scranton, PA, on NY Route 17. The camp has bunkhouse-style cabins with porches, electricity, abundant storage space and interior bathrooms. For more privacy there is plenty of space for tents. The site has a lake, swimming pool and attractive common buildings.
The Workshop
The Iroquois Springs workshop begins late Saturday afternoon, August 11, and ends with breakfast Saturday, August 18. An orientation meeting is held Saturday evening to introduce participants to the facility and to the teaching staff. Classes begin Sunday morning, and are held each day through Thursday. Following a review session Friday morning, classes participate in a student concert. The week closes on Friday with a Balkan-style lamb roast and the last of the week’s great evening parties. We leave the facilities by 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 18.
Food
We are delighted to welcome back our favorite chef, Janet Bradley and crew, who will be preparing our delicious food and snacks.
Families
We offer two class periods a day in children's activities, and a kids'/youth band--the newly inaugurated "Čoček Nation." Children are also welcome and encouraged to take adult classes, according to their capabilities.
New this year: We must have a Waiver on file for every child under the age of 18 attending a workshop. No exceptions.
All workshop participants under the age of 21 not attending with a legal guardian/parent, need to have a Guardian Consent form on file.
Both forms need to be completed and received in our office no later than July 11. Download the form here (1.7mb PDF).
Part-time Registration
Part-time registration is available, and we suggest that you plan your attendance to correspond to the three- and four-day blocks listed on the fee schedule (see below). Part-time space is limited. If you are a first-time part-timer intending to pursue instruction in an unfamiliar instrument of vocal style, we recommend that you begin your stay with the first day of the Workshop. Also, if you are new to camp, it will be easier if you begin your stay on Saturday, August 11, the first day of the workshop, to take advantage of the one orientation meeting offered on the first night of camp.
Evening Parties
You may attend just the evening parties, which begin at 9 p.m. The cost is $35 per person. Admission includes the evening dance party and late-night Kafana activities until 2:30 a.m. (no overnight accommodations). You may also attend just the Friday afternoon lamb roast/evening dance party, which is $50. Please register for evening parties and the Lamb Roast with the EEFC Office before August 11. Tell us what night you plan to attend and the names of others in your party. We cannot accept drop-in partygoers. Registered partygoers may check in and pay at the Front Desk when you arrive on site (no earlier than 8 p.m.); Lamb Roast visitors may join us no earlier than 2 p.m. on Friday.
Work Exchanges
A few partial-tuition-waiver work exchanges may be available for full-week participants. Please contact the EEFC Office for more information.
Note that we will accept work exchange inquiries only after registration has officially begun.
